I probably shouldn't laugh...but....

So, yes I admit I am watching some of the Olympic coverage, realizing that by the time I see the action, the event is over.  Right now I'm into the swimming and tennis (because Parker is) and a little bit of gymnastics.

The other night I was watching Men's Gymnastics and they were showing the "top gymnast" from Germany. The first clip showed him on the vault - totally missing the landing and falling on the ground in the fetal position and hurting his ankle.  Then, they showed him on the "bar" - the one where they jump up and flip and turn and at times let go of the bar with the intent to catch it on the way down.  Well - not this "top gymnast" he missed the bar and fell flat on his face!  Then, to continue with the pain and agony - they showed him on the floor exercise - hurt ankle - hurt pride - and of course more bad landings!!!  I was totally busting a gut at this time.  I'm sorry.....

So last night the Japanese and British were in a dead heat for silver and bronze.  It's crazy how the British look so British - you know what I mean.  It was such an important event that the cute princes - William and Harry were in the stand!  The crowd erupted with a final floor exercise that secured the bronze metal.  It was so loud that the Japanese guy on the horse missed a crucial element - again cracked me up - and this put the British in the Silver medal slot.  Well they kept showing to the poor Japanese dude with his bad hair while the British were going crazy.  Then you see the Japanese coach go up to the judges with a form and cash in his hand - a bribe?!?!?!?!?  Apparenlty when you want to challenge the score, you hand the judges a form and cash.  If they have made a mistake, they change the score and give the money back.  Well they changed the score, the Japanese took Silver and the British took Bronze......

I Love the Olympics!!!!!!

3 years, 9 months, 19 days....

Today was the day....the braces for Parker have finally been removed!
It has been quite the process, but when you start with pretty awful teeth what do you expect.
It all started when his permanent teeth were coming in over the baby teeth - not doing their job - and creating the double decker look....not good.
Teeth were extracted - in fact 7 in one day! Braces were attached at age 11!
We joked with his orthodontist the past year - would they be off before going on his mission?  Would they be off before he graduated from College?  You get the picture.

So last week we got a letter from Dr. Stevens, saying he as retiring in August.  Now we know why it took so long.  He wanted Parker to be one of his last patients!
