One hand man....

So Preston is officially a "ONE HAND MAN" - five months left in the mish before he comes home!! YEAH!!!!!!!

Christmas Party #2 and #3

So Party #2 was last Friday night - the Ward party. The crowd was sparse, the entertainment was unique and the food was polynesian. Parker sang with the YM/YW in what he described as "a cheap imitation of a song from Shrek" - and yes it was..... The bishopric attempted to do Cowboy poetry. Our Bishop tried to do his with a spanish accent and said "I'm not very good at speaking MEXICAN - oh I mean Spanish".

Party #3 was the annual PYG party - no spouses or significant others invited. IT WAS A VERY LONG NIGHT! Started at 5:30 with appetizers, DRINKS, and gift exchange. I got a very unique (ugly) mug with some "Peppermint Drinking Chocolate" (note - not HOT chocoloate - but DRINKING chocolate - whatever that is). The food was good, my drink wasn't (only Pepsi products), and plenty of acholoic beverages flowing freely...... We even had a musical number by one of the new legal assistants. She thinks alot of herself and wanted to sing to show everyone how good she was (seriously that is what she told the office manager). We have nicknamed her Sarah Palin - because for Halloween she dressed up as - you guessed it - Sarah Palin.....

So Party #4 is Saturday - looking forward to it.....

Christmas is coming....

Last night we had our Relief Society Christmas party - the first party of the season. The food was good - the entertainment was good (Hunter High Madrigals) and the company was good. We (my neighbor Jenny Wong) and I invited Diane Bruschke - and she came!!!

The Bruschke's are very "private" people (and not members of the Church). They don't have any children and we just try to be good neighbors without being "too good of neighbors". They have a beautiful back yard and a beautiful home. In the 13 years we have lived in our homes, I had never been inside the "Bruschke" house - until now. It is beautiful...a lot of "large" furnishings from the Black Goose, a gourmet kitchen and very clean and neat!!!

They are really nice people - I hope she enjoyed the program!

They were just too GOOD!!!!

It always takes a little bit of luck in the "big" game. The UTES didn't need luck - they were just plain good!!!!!

Six months to go - but who's counting?

Preston has six months before he returns to the USA!!! His tentative release date is May 21st (at least that's what he has told us).
So that means -
Two more telephone calls
27 more Wednesday Emails
1 more Christmas, New Years Day, Civil Rights Day, President's Day, St. Patrick's Day, April Fools Day, Easter, Birthday, and Mother's Day
I just sent his Christmas package...
hopefully he will get it before he comes home!!!!

Blood pumping comment....

So this guy at work made the comment to another coworker (referring to me) "She's not the kind of CPA that I am". I guess that's because he's a moron and I'm not.

I got so worked up on the way to work, that I actually submitted my resume for a "Bank Controller" position that I had heard about a couple of days ago.

I'm sure nothing will become of it, and I will eventually calm down, but it did make me feel better!!!!!

Church on Sunday.....

So I think me and Meranda are doomed!

In church on Sunday, we sat behind another touchy/feely/backscratching/can we sit any closer, couple. I'm guessing it is a second marriage for them. She had a couple of kids; he had a couple of kids. They were visiting our ward for a nephew's baptism. She went to school with Johnny - so they were in their 40's. Come on people - get control of yourself!

Also, it was the first time in many years our family has actually sat in the chapel - as opposed to the overflow backrow where we usually sit. You see, I am now "one" of the ward organists and November is my first month to play. I am actually really excited - ward organist would be my "calling of choice". The other organists are actually not organists. What most people don't know is just because you can play the piano doesn't mean you can play the organ. About the only thing they have in common are "keys"!

I have played the piano since I was about 6 years old. My Grandpa Huber bought us a piano and I immediately claimed it as my own. I'm positive I drove my family nuts as I would sit at it for hours on end teaching myself to play (with Mom's help from the kitchen). I think I only really took about 6 formal piano lessons.

I took organ lessons from Eileen Jensen. I would meet her at the church in the afternoon one day a week, and then would practice on it a couple of times a week. She was a great teacher and was her ward organist until she died.

I was called to be the ward organist in the Lakeridge 3rd/4th Wards when I was about 14-15 years old and was it until I got married!!!! Since I've been married, I've been the the ward organist a couple of times and have played at Stake Conference many times.

I was a little rusty - but it's amazing how quickly it all came back. I love playing the organ!!!

Vote early to avoid long lines - WHATEVER.....

So all of the registered voters in our home (except for Preston) have voted early!!

Evan went Wednesday night - walked right in and was through in a very short time.

On the flipside - me and Meranda went Thursday at 5:30 - and waited in a very long line.....a total of 35 minutes - seemed like a lot more - maybe because we had "touchy/feeling/kissy/backscratching" couple in front of us - UGH!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PARKER!!!

Today is Parker's birthday - he is 12 years old!!

He was born October 23, 1996 at 7:00 a.m. He was 8 lbs 13 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. He had dark auburn hair and was actually born about 2 weeks early!!

I am so glad he is a part of our family. He was a wonderful surprise and blessing!
He has a loud - but contagious - laugh.
He likes pasta, drawing houses, Miley Cyrus, the Beach Boys, movies, swimming, the Utah Jazz, playing Wii, his Ipod, baseball and fastpitch softball......
He will probably be mad at me for posting this picture - but it makes me laugh.....

Parker - I love you - you're an awesome young man!!!!

Nothing special - just things that make me crazy.....

So - I really don't have anything special to blog about - but I do have some things that make me crazy.....

Political season - makes me crazy. Politicians make me crazy. John McCain is old and acts like a dirty old man. Obama looks presidential but I really don't want to vote for him - I don't like the idea of national health care and spending more of my hard earned money to help those that can't or don't want to help themselves.

Financial crises - makes me crazy. A lot of corruption and greed. My 401K account is going in the toilet - luckily I'm not 65 - I'm actually glad I'm only 51 and still many years from retirement.

The media - makes me crazy. You would think millions of people are losing their jobs, their homes, their families. Come on - I'm okay - aren't you?

Home Foreclosures - makes me crazy. Just because someone says you can afford a $500,000 home - doesn't make it so. Look at your paycheck. What house payment can you afford? Do you really think your wages are going to go up enough in three years that you'll be able to afford the payment when you actually have to start paying on the principal?

Government Bailouts - makes me crazy. If I had a business and made bad decisions - would they throw $700 billion my way?

Executive Salaries - makes me crazy. GREED - it's everywhere - even in a small law firm in SLC.

I guess I kind of feel like George.......

Toothless.....

Do you remember the movie Toothless? Well we had our own version yesterday afternoon. You see, Parker (who is almost 12) has had a problem with losing his baby teeth, even though the permanent teeth were coming in. This has resulted in "double decker" teeth - apparently it is some kind of condition that the baby teeth just don't want to leave.

Anyway - Parker had SEVEN - yes SEVEN - teeth pulled yesterday. His entire face was numb. He kept saying - "Mom, touch my lip", and then he would laugh when he couldn't feel my touch. He didn't realize that it felt normal to me - other than the drool that was coming out because his mouth was full of gauze......! When we got home he was HUNGRY - but couldn't really eat anything because he couldn't control the muscles in his mouth. We all know how it feels to have a numb mouth - right? He was very frustrated, but finallly the numbness wore off and he was able to eat and life was good again - until we started his homework!!!!!

I don't know why, but each of my kids have been somewhat challenged in the "teeth" department. Preston has "undersized" laterals. Meranda doesn't have any laterals. And now Parker had the double decker situation. Thank goodness for dentists and orthodontists that keep my kids smiling.....

Great kids and husband.....

We had a RS lesson on Sunday about happiness and being happy. The teacher gave a great lesson and one thing that has stuck in my mind is to tell Evan, Preston, Meranda and Parker how happy they make me and that being their Wife and Mom is the best thing in the world!!!!!

My new shoes...

I was inspired by Annie and found me some new red shoes - quite brave for an "old woman". Actually, I have always been somewhat of a "shoe horse". I have owned both red cowboy boots and red snow boots. I have owned red, white, navy, brown, black patent leather, purple, pink, gold, and silver shoes. When we moved from our house on Janette Avenue to our house on Coley Circle - I probably owned at least 3-4 dozen pairs of shoes. We had quite a bit of help when we moved and someone put all of my shoes in "garbage bags" to move to the new house. Well, somehow the shoes ended up going to the dumps. Evan was never very fond of my red snow boots and as he tossed a garbage bag - the red boots fell out - he thought it was great I was finally getting rid of the red boots. He didn't know every pair of shoes I owned were gone. I have never quite replaced all of those shoes - but that's okay - they probably wouldn't even fit me now!!

Things are great in Rio Gallegos

Well - the time finally arrived - Preston had his first conversion/baptism in Rio Gallegos. I feel like we have come to know Sister Candelaria Cordova and the ups and down of committing and accepting the gospel. The church is true and the missionary program is awesome! Preston looks so happy....

Waiting. . .

Well I now can officially say that I've made it through my first college class, and let me tell you it was just like any other class I've ever been to. The teacher a little weird, but I'll give him a break cause his name is Doug (for short) and he likes to garden. So that's great, first class out of the way. . .next class is at 10:00, so what do I do between classes, go buy my book. . .nope, go walk around campus. . .nope, call mom, well I would expect for the whole my phone battery is going crazy and it has like no power, ahhh I know lets go to the library. OK so what do you do now??? Lets go mess around on the computer, look at the syllabus for the math class. . .ok that's great, now what. . .????

Did I mention that I look really good today, like this is how good I look, I"M NOT WEARING A T-SHIRT!!!!! I know you are way impressed, but what did you expect I am in college now, duh!!

Did I mention that all of the computers are really filling up now, good thing there's a lot of them!!

Well I guess I better get ready for my next class, its chemristy in the Science Building with Bastin!!!

The End Is Here

Its over. . .summer that is, I can't believe it!!! Yes today is my last day of summer vacation!!!! I guess it's time to go back to school, but it just seems so early!!! What will Parker do for the 3 days of summer without me there.

Well yesterday I was at softball pretty much all day, form 10:00 in the morning till around 2:00 in the after noon, poor Parker. When I first got out of my car in the garage I could here some sort of loud noise coming from the house. . .what could it be I thought to myself . . .nothing other than Parker playing his Saxophone, yes he was so bored without me that he was playing his saxophone, had memorized the scout oath, called to see if Cousin Willie was home for an HOUR straight, and had gone outside to play catch with himself, but had to come back in cause there was a killer bee after him!!!

I had a request to put the other videos from our vacation on our blog so here they are!! THe first is anothe ron of my dad, then Traffic Control Lady part two, and then finally while we were at the beach my mom took some video of us in the water. . .wrecking!!

We're Back!!!!

SO after a very long and good vacation we are back!!! It really was a ton of fun, from crazy traffic control lady, to Billy and the Hillbilly's, to the wonderful ocean. . .ahhh and then there was the weather. . .it was soo nice, not too hot and defiantly not too cold!!

Although I loved the whole trip I would have to say that I now love San Diego, it was soo nice the weather there was amazing!! Sea World was fun and the night shows were way cool. Then Disneyland was of course way fun, and really not all that crowded!!!

I really can't describe the whole trip so here are some pics and hopefully some videos!!!!!!!!

Some things never change - just the location....

Preston will have been in Argentina for one year on July 16th. It has flown by and he is working hard and staying focused. No baptisms yet - but several scheduled for the end of the month. He is stoaked and you can tell in his face that he is happy to be there....

Whether at home in Utah or down south in Rio Gallegos - Preston loves food, cell phones and crazy outfits.....

Waiting for someone to post.....

So - I have been waiting for someone in the Woods in the Hood to post about our latest events - but I guess SHE isn't going to...

The week of the 4th of July started out with a bang - or should I say - bite. MKW was jogging home from softball practice and was "attacked" by a dog - bit just above the elbow. This resulted in high emotions in the Wood House - a tetnus shot - antibiotics, - and a visit with WVC Animal control. The dog belonged to the WVC Manager - and apparently has bitten before. Well - MKW is doing okay and the dog is not - he is now in doggy heaven - because as we know - ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN......

Other events of the week - Movies at the Redwood Drive-In - 5K run - Magna Parade (yuck) - lunch at Jackies - swim at Grandmas - and then "Stadium of Fire" in lovely Provo, Utah. It was fun even if Judy had to leave her bag of licorice with a family outside of the stadium and no diet coke to consume. Miley Cyrus (yes that's Miley on our blog) and the Blue Man Group were awesome - the crowd was very large - and the fireworks were spectacular.

Getting out of BYU was a challenge in that the cars in our parking lot were NOT MOVING. This resulted in Cindy getting out of the car to see what the holdup was - backing up and turning around - merging (actually butting) ahead of non-agressive drivers - getting "honked at" - following an agressive older blonde woman in a van - Meranda telling us to "follow your heart" when deciding which direction to go - Willie asking if we could stop for food - and getting out of Zoobie Land faster than any of us thought we would!!!!

It was a great week!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERANDA!!!

Today is Meranda's 18th birthday! She is a great daughter, sister, neice, grandaughter and friend.

Today she is doing what she has been doing for most of her birthdays - playing softball!!!

When asked about it, she said, "I wouldn't want to do anything else!".

We love you Meranda!!!!
This post has taken me ALL DAY LONG to figure out how to scan a picture. Thanks Judy for your help!!!!!!

Welcome to Sunburn - I mean Summer.....

An annual event in our family seems to be the first "big burn" of the summer. In the past this ritual belonged to Preston - but since Preston is actually experiencing "winter" in Rio Gallegos - Parker stepped in to take over the tradition.

A swimming barbeque party with his baseball team on Saturday - turned into a massive "blister fest" on Sunday. He had one so big on his shoulder, in Parker's own words said "Mom, I think I'm growing another head"......

Needless to say- he has been miserable - and the entire house has been reminded more than once - just how miserable he is.

I told him I totally relate! In fact, in my teenage years, we would lather ourselves in Baby Oil and sit in the sun to "bake". I had many great sunburns - which I thought made me look really cool and healthy. Imagine that!!!!!

I knew he would survive (just like I did) and today he is off to Mill Hollow - still with blisters - but at least he can move his arms now!!! I can only wait for the peeling and itching to start.......

Counting down 343, 342, 341, 340......

Preston is now on the downward climb - only 343 official days left. HOWEVER, his tentative release date is May 21st, 2009 - which would mean he will serve more that the two years - by a few days.

The first year has gone extremely fast... We miss him some days more than others - especially when we want to know that certain "fact" that we know Preston would know.

He is a great missionary!!!!

On to 6th Grade - YEAH!!!

Parker survived the year with Ms. Diefenderfer and is an official 6th grader. It has been a challenging year - not only because he had a teacher with a really long name - but because he survived the "Mean Girls" in his class, the girl with the "Wig" and the "bully" on the playground. He is a great kid and we are proud of him. His goal was to get Perfect Attendance but only missed one day. That is one award that he knows he can always get on his own and this is a picture of him standing to be recognized at the year end awards assembly. Maybe perfect attendance next year......

Four Cousins....

This year we had four cousins graduate in the Class of 2008 -

Maddie........ Utah State University
Meranda..... Hunter High School
Natalie........ Kearns High School
Rubie.......... Cyprus High School

Way to go!!!!!!!

Happy Graduation

Meranda Kay Wood is now officialy an alumni of Hunter High School. She graduated Thursday, June 5, 2008 with 600 of her classmates - yes there were 601 that graduated. Meranda had a great career at HHS and is now moving onto the rest of her life.

Some of her accomplishments while at Hunter High:

Bad Day - Good Day

Somedays just don't go the exactly the way you would like them to....
First - the bad - Meranda's softball team played in the quarterfinals of the State 5A playoffs today! She was excited to play the Fremont Silverpuppies and hoped to pull off the upset - but - it didn't happen. Hunter played a tough game until the bottom of the sixth inning when we gave up a couple of big hits. Meranda doesn't think she had the best game - but she did the best she could - had some great at bats and made some great plays. So now they play Viewmont on Tuesday 3:15 at the Valley Complex. It's one game at a time for now.....

Now the Good - after the game we raced to the Hunter High Senior Awards Banquet. Now when I went to school way back in the 70's, you were invited to attend based on GPA, school involvement, etc., and a lot of kids went. Well, at HHS, you get to "apply" to be invited and have to go around and get signatures from teachers, coaches, counselors, etc. and get enough points so that they can then invite you - STUPID........ I think there were probably 50-75 seniors out of a class of 661 - I'm guessing most kids didn't have a mom that made them go through the process!!! Meranda received the "Outstanding Female Athlete Award". This award is based on athletic letters earned, GPA, level of classes taken (AP/Honors/CC) and community service. They introduced her by reading all of her accomplishments - which are many!!! Her coaches praised her and said that she is hardworking and fun to coach. She had kids come up to her after that said they had no idea what she had done! I was definitely a PROUD MOTHER!!!! This was a great payday for me.

So - some days are good and bad - and I would rather have my kids try their best - sometimes failing - but in the end having good things happen. If you don't try, you'll never experience success and disappointment. I love my kids - they are awesome!!!!!!!

Happy Late Birthday Preston!!

Wow - I am feel like a slacker Mom - didn't even post on Preston's birthday. Oh well - it sounds like he had a great day - with two meals provided by members and a birthday cake baked by one of the sister missionaries.

Twenty years ago, Preston was born on April 29th - a beautiful spring day. Two days later - May 1st - we came home from the hospital in a BLIZZARD!!!

Somethings never change - two days ago - April 29th - was a pretty nice spring day (until the wind started) and today - May 1st - I drove to work in a snowstorm.

Crazy!!!

"Professional Assistants Day"?!?!?!?

So this week was Professional Assistants day - fka - Secretary's Day! YUCK!!

I started my career some 33 years ago at American Equity Corporation - and yes - I was proud to be a "secretary". It ran its course and I knew that I must complete my education and get my degree - which after 11 long years - I did. I majored in accounting at the 'U', passed the CPA exam, worked for Coopers & Lybrand in public accounting and became a "licensed professional".

Well to make a long story short, six years ago, I was looking for work and was hired by a "grand old law firm" - Prince, Yeates and Geldzahler - as their Controller/Accounting Manager. This is an office where the "secretaries" are still referred to as "the girls" and if you a woman - you are automatically grouped with "the girls".

The first "professional assistants" day I was around for - I walked into my office and found a flower in a vase with a card thanking me. Needless to say - I was "livid" - I was not anyone's "professional assistant". I remember throwing the card and exclaiming - "I hate this place - I am so over qualified for this job - it's ridiculous!" The office manager - who has been with the firm for 35 years - figured out how I felt - and apologized for the flower, note, etc.....

Well some five years later - I am still here - "the girls" are still referred to as "the girls". I go to the luncheon - but as part of management - and I haven't received another flower!!!! Yesterday, as the luncheon was winding down, the conversation around the table was getting a little edgy (actually gross). One of "the girls" (who I think is 57 years old) began talking about a subject that was inappropriate, and I didn't like it. I looked around the room, looked at my cell phone, stood up and walked out! It felt great! I didn't say anything - but I think "the girls" finally figured out I wasn't one of "the girls"!!!!!

Tragic Loss....

When I heard the news that a missionary had been killed in Brazil by a "hit and run" driver, I immediately thought about Preston and was thankful he was safe. Today I read Elder Knoop's obituary and it really hit me hard. He was the same age as Preston, was a great athlete, and a wonderful son. He also has a sister, Marnie, who is a swimmer. Wow - I've had tears in my eyes all morning.
You see, Meranda has been competing against Marnie Knoop in swimming since she was 11 years old. Meranda's specialty is the butterfly - just like Marnie. We didn't really like Marnie - thought she was kind of snotty - afterall she lived in Park City - but transferred to Skyline to swim!!
I now feel a real connection with the Knoop family and I know how they must feel at this time....

What to do with the family plow????

So, Evan went to Wayne County over the weekend and brought home his Great Grandpa Wood's plow - WOW!

Tonight it is planted in the front yard - behind the "butt" rock. I think we should try and sell it on Ebay. Evan wants it to be displayed in the yard - a real life farm implement.

Parker is a Dodger

Baseball season has started. The Dodgers have one win and one loss.
Only 16 more games to go. Parker hit the ball, got on base and had an RBI!
Way to go Parker. Doesn't he look great in his uniform?!?!?!?!?!?

Homerun #3.......

Hunter vs. #1 Spanish Fork - or just "Spanish" as their fans cheered - "Go Spanish". What's up with that??

Meranda gave them a little "Spanish" - a three run homerun over left field fence..... She also made some great defensive plays - including a double play to end inning #4. Unfortunately the team ended up losing - but not because "Spanish" outplayed them - in plain "English" the Wolverines beat themselves...

as reported By Chhun Sun The Salt Lake Tribune

After having their pitcher, Saphina Butler, score in the second, the Wolverines (9-3) made things very interesting the following inning. Senior Meranda Wood clocked a three-run homer to left field, putting the score at 4-0 for Hunter - in its first-ever meeting against the 2006 state champion.

Mr. Chhun Sun had a lengthy telephone interview with Meranda on Tuesday (the day before the game with "Spanish"). She "talked the talk" with him and then followed it up with a "trot" around the bases.....

Here's a picture:

By George - We Won in St. George!!!!

Hunter Softball Update
The Lady Wolverines had a great weekend in the St. George March Warmup Tournament!!!!
Game 1: Hunter 15; Page, Arizona 0
Game 2: Hunter 3; Durango (Las Vegas) 2
Game 3: Hunter 7; Bonneville 1
Game 4: Hunter 3; Bishop Manague (Reno) 2
Game 5: Hunter 0; Twin Falls (Idaho) 6

All in all a pretty great tournament. The team went 3-0 in pool play and were seeded #1 in their bracket. Finally losing in the Championship game of our bracket to a Twin Falls team - whose pitcher has signed with UNLV. Other than a bad first inning, it was a great game!

This week the games are Tuesday @ Bountiful and Thursday @ Hunter vs. Olympus.

GREATFUL

Have you ever been around someone who was having a seziure??? Well today in my Creative Writting class a kid had one. IT'S TO COLD TO BE PLAYING SOFTBALL, LETS DO IT ANYWAYS

So my mother dear has been telling me for about the last week that it is "my turn to post something on the blog" and then I say to her, "Gee, I didn't know we had to take turns posting!" SO, mom here I am posting I hope you're happy!! Anyways the main reason that I haven't posted is basically for the same reason that anybody else wouldn't post. . .I have nothing to say!

Anyways, so this week was the start of the softball season, we played our first game on Tuesday against AM. Fork. I am happy to announce that we conquered the 'mighty' cave-women's( that doesn't spell out the way I want to say it). We toppled then with a score of 7-1!! I played pretty good for it being the first game(o.k. so that was a joke I actually played very well, in that I hit a home run in my first at bat of the season!). Then today we had another game against Highland, I'm not going to lie but after the second inning I was a little nervous. . .see we were down by 1 to a team that we should be killing. SO what was the outcome of the game one might ask. . .(dots added for suspense) we ended up ten run ruling them 11-1, but it wasn't our best game as a team. I am sure you are all wondering how i did, well I really did not have that super of a game(not lying) I grounded out, walked, and then bunted and got out, but hey my team won so that makes me happy(sort of)!!! Tomorrow morning we head down to St. George where we will play five games ( 2 Friday & 3 Sat.) and hopefully we will come back 7-0!!!!!

Anyways in more important news, on Tuesday I go into my creative writing class. Now let me pause that thought for a second, I have to set it up. SO my creative writting class consists of 9 people, and that is if everyone shows up to class. And well my teacher is lets say very scatter-brained, and at some points very annoying, in that I already know what she is going to say but it takes her ten minuets to say it!!! Well it just so happens that on this very Tuesday she was having one of those days, and after being in that class room for 15 minuets I was ready to SCREAM, YELL, CRY. . .but then this teacher did something amazing, she asked us what movie we would like to watch, for creative writing purposes, let me tell ya somethin' prayers are answered!!!! That's All I have to say. . .and that's our rhyme for today!!!!!! (get it say and day)

oh and did I mention that tonight was the swim team banquet and can you guess how long it lasted?!?!?! From 6:00 - 9:15 NO LIE!!!!!!! I WAS GINNA' DIE!!!!!!! (that's right 2 rhymes!!)

Monday Night Update

From Swim to Softball here we come...
So you better get ready for some fun!!!
Parker's Swim...
Z-league was great - Parker was awesome! Best times in every event and he swam every stroke - Back/Breast/Fly/Free and placed as high as third place in two of the events in his age group. He was so excited! He counted up the points (in ink on his arm) and figured he scored 39 points for the WEST VALLEY SEAWOLVES!!! Way to go Parker

Meranda's Softball...

Tonight was the annual "Meet the Team" for the Hunter High Softball Team. It's always a wonderful event!?!?!? Meranda is a captain this year - and is "loving" every minute of it (yes, I'm being sarcastic). The first game is tomorrow against American Fork - the Caveman. The last meeting between Hunter & American Fork ended in a fight - but wait - that was the football team. Our girls won't fight - they just plan on winning the game!!!

Preview of the week... (I'm already tired)
Tuesday: MKW Softball Game; PSW swim practice
Wednesday: PSW swim practice, CHW Relief Society Social; EJW Scouts; PSW Scouts; PSW parent/teacher conference
Thursday: MKW Softball Game; PSW swim practice; ALL HHS Swim Banquet

Cell Phones - what did we do without them?

Everyday when my kids get home from school, they give me a call on my cell phone. It's our link to each other.

I am sometimes away from my office (cell phone) when the after school call comes. Well, yesterday, this happened and when I realized I was not by my cell phone at the designated time, I hustled back to my office. I HAD ONLY MISSED 22 CALLS FROM HOME!!!!

Child #3, Parker, couldn't believe that I wasn't there - thus the 22 missed calls!!! I love that I was missed 22 times - but if I don't answer on the first 21 - guess what - I'm not there.

The first cell phone I ever had was when I was working at American Investment Financial and I was provided a company phone - which was the size of a regular home portable phone. I remember that it made me feel really cool (and safe) having this phone. I was pregnant with Parker when I got the phone (maybe that's why he called me 22 times yesterday).

I don't know what we ever did without cell phones! We can talk to anyone at any time and in any place.
It's an amazing thing .... That cell phone ring.... (today's rhyme)
